Análisis de la adquisición del fonema /r/ en español por aprendices estadounidenses desde la fonética auditiva y articulatoria

BIODATA

Licenciado en Filología Inglesa (Universidad de Granada, 1995), es profesor de español como lengua extranjera en el programa de estudios en el extranjero del Central College, Central University of Iowa, desde 2002. En él imparte las asignaturas de Gramática, Fonética Contrastiva español / inglés de Norteamérica y también talleres culturales.

RESUMEN

El fonema /r/ es uno de los fonemas españoles que crea mayor dificultad en los aprendices de ELE por hablantes de lengua inglesa. Esta memoria plantea la hipótesis de que la máxima dificultad en la pronunciación de la [r]  por parte de estudiantes universitarios estadounidenses estriba en la combinación del fonema /r/ con las consonantes oclusivas /t/ y /d/, en combinación con las cinco vocales y cuando la /r/ aparece en posición intervocálica. También especifica que la concienciación por parte del alumno es un factor primordial en el proceso de adquisición de este fonema. Por último pretende darle a la pronunciación y a la fonética el lugar que les corresponde en el proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje de español así como una mayor presencia en los planes curriculares.

ABSTRACT

English-speaking learners of Spanish find the phoneme /r/ one of the more difficult for them to produce. The present study investigates the hypothesis that US university students have greatest difficulty in pronouncing [r] in the combination of /r/ with the stop consonants /t/ and /d/, with the five vowels, and when /r/ is in an intervocalic position. We also specify that awareness is an essential factor in the acquisition process. And, finally, we would hope to give phonetics and pronunciation the place they deserve in the process of Spanish language learning-acquisition and greater prominence in the curriculum.
